Martin Luther King Jr. Speech Quotes, 1967

“We still have a choice today; nonviolent coexistence or violent co-annihilation.”

“Increasingly, by choice or by accident, this is the role our nation has taken — the role of those who make peaceful revolution impossible by refusing to give up the privileges and the pleasures that come from the immense profits of overseas investment.”  http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkatimetobreaksilence2.htm

To paraphrase Dr King, what we needed then and still need is a shift in values, from the material to the spiritual, from a love of wealth and acquisition to a love of our brothers and sisters and the planet we all share.
